The Tamarind Tree
Kanakapura Road
About The Tamarind Tree
Five acres of old garden off Kanakapura Road at Avalahalli, built around a tamarind tree that has been standing for roughly four hundred years. There is a pond, a colonial bandstand, stone pavilions, and an art and antiques collection through the property that most venues would charge you to decorate around.
The single most useful thing about it is not visible in photographs: the whole property goes to one wedding at a time. No second function running in the next hall, no shared entrance, no setup window squeezed because somebody else is packing down. For a multi-day celebration that is the difference between a venue and a location.
It has been a home, a restaurant and a weekend retreat before becoming a wedding venue, and it still reads that way — rustic rather than polished, with corners and nooks that work for small groups rather than one large formal space. Couples tend to book it for exactly that quality, and it takes minimal decoration to look right.
Rooms on site accommodate around a hundred people, including a villa built around a koi pond, so out-station family stay through the celebration instead of travelling in each morning. Parking is generous.
