The Secret Grove

The Secret Grove sits deep inside Avalahalli village in North Bangalore, and the drive in is part of what it is: the venue is tucked away rather than on a main road.

The property is a single 10,000 sq ft open-air space laid out among mature tamarind and mango trees, with brick walls, glass-painted windows and Victorian furnishings worked into the landscaping, and a 420 sq ft stage built as an open-air theatre. It has hosted concerts, plays and stand-up alongside weddings, and it is a favourite for pre-wedding and maternity shoots. People who have been there describe it as a venue you have to see to understand.

It seats around 250 and takes 300 standing. There is a commercial kitchen on site, sound and light equipment, and one guest room. Music, catering, furnishing and florals can be arranged through the venue.

Two things to know before visiting. The space is entirely uncovered, so it suits the cooler months and evening functions far better than an April afternoon or a monsoon date. And there is no parking on the property — guests arrive by car and park outside, and cabs are not easy to find for the return, so families usually arrange transport.
