At Jarakabande Kaval in Yelahanka, opposite the JB Kaval tree park — close enough to the city to be an easy drive, far enough that the surroundings are trees rather than buildings.

The property is built on two levels, and that is what makes it work. Magnolia Square is the upper lawn, open and expansive, the space for the main ceremony under open sky. Below it sits Gulmohar Court, a smaller lawn shaded by mature trees and attached directly to Maya, the reception hall. Having an intimate space and a grand one on the same property, with a hall between them, means a mehendi and a reception do not compete for the same ground.

Fern Garden runs alongside Magnolia Square and connects to the dining area. Satva is dining under a canopy, open to the air but covered — useful in a city where an evening in July can go either way.

Maya itself is a reception hall that opens onto the lawn, usable sheltered or open depending on the weather and the hour.

The planting is the point here. Gulmohar, magnolia, ferns — the spaces are named for what grows in them, and the landscaping does work that a decorator would otherwise have to pay for.
