Kalyani Courtyard sits just off the NICE expressway past Kumbalgodu, built around a courtyard in Chettinad style with a swimming pool, a park and four rooms. It is a smaller property than most on this corridor, and it is at its best for an intimate wedding, an engagement or a function where the setting does the work.

Dining is in a separate area from the main courtyard.

You will not need much decor

This is the thing people say about it unprompted, and it is the reason to look at it. The property is unusually photogenic — enough that a good deal of its bookings are pre-wedding and maternity shoots rather than weddings. Families who have held functions here describe arriving with far less decoration than they had planned and the place carrying the day anyway. If your budget is tight and you would rather spend it on food than on draping, that is worth something real.

Finding it

Reviewers are consistent about one practical thing: the directions mislead. More than one has asked the venue to put up a larger board on the approach. Get the exact pin from them before the day, send it to your guests with the invitation rather than an address, and tell anyone driving themselves to ring ahead rather than trust the last kilometre of satnav.
